A Sira IECEx/ATEX certificate, along with Sira's test data exchange agreements lay the framework for direct acceptance of Ex Test Reports (ExTR) by foreign Ex certification bodies.


However, manufacturers may find that there are still additional regulatory requirements and other formalities that must be complied with before Ex products can be sold and exported in other countries.

Brazil, for instance, require INMETRO marking approval for products intended for hazardous locations. Russia requires GOST-Ex approval as well as a Technical Passport and Rostechnadzor Permit to Use, (also known as “RTN Permit”) in order for Ex equipment to be shipped and installed in Russia. China will formally review and accept IECEx certificates and ExTRs, but will still need a sample for verification before granting approval.

Whilst many of these requirements and other formalities are indeed 'formalities', it can still create additional delays and cost for manufacturers who fail to recognise the country-specific requirements for entry. Failure to complete the additional requirements will lead to missed opportunities and longer lead times to market.
